The AI Gap in Paris

For almost two decades I have been studying how the voices of marginalized communities are less likely to be as represented online as those of elites. Instead of getting better, these inequalities are only becoming exponentially worse with AI data sets that not only bias but also leave out the experiences of especially low-income people, impacting economic and social well-being. This article on the implications of the Paris AI Summit summed up my research and its implications for a GenAI Gap.
